131.7 bln UAH needed in order to reform the Ukrainian army by 2017

In order to ensure the army reform by 2017, it is foreseen to allocate 131.7 bln UAH (approx. 12.7 bln EUR) for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

It was announced on 17 of June 2013 by the Director of the Finance Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Major-General Ivan Marko.

Ukrainian army to include new weaponry into service

Su-27SM19 new and upgraded pieces of weaponry and armored vehicles are to be included into Ukraine’s Army inventory, said Deputy Minister and the Chief of Office of the Ministry of Defense Volodymyr Mozharovsky.

“Being provided with a reasonable funding it is planned to put 19 new pieces of weaponry into service.” - Deputy Minister said.

Ukraine to reinforce its peacekeeping contingent in the DR Congo

Yuriy Lutsenko is out of prison

On 7th of April Former Minister of Interior of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko was freed from Mensk Correctional Facility No 91 (city of Mena, Chernihiv region).

This decision was taken by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych following the request of Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights Valeriya Lutkovska to grant pardon to Yuriy Lutsneko.
